Achieving record-breaking exam results and introducing a groundbreaking phone-free policy, Reach British School is redefining academic excellence and student wellbeing in Abu Dhabi.
This year at Reach British School, Abu Dhabi is unique. The hallways resonate with pride from top exam scores and the excitement of a fresh beginning. The school has implemented a phone-free policy to enhance students’ focus on learning and their connections with each other.

The recent outstanding exam results at Reach British School lay a robust groundwork for the upcoming year. At A-Level, 43% achieved A–A* grades, with nearly a third earning straight A/A*. The inaugural BTEC graduating class boasted a 100% pass rate, with half achieving Merit or above. IGCSE results were equally noteworthy, with a 100% pass rate and 78% of grades at Level 4 or higher.
“These results reflect our learners’ ambition and resilience,” stated Adam Crossley, Head of Secondary.
“We take pride not only in their achievements but in their personal growth.”
This commitment to balancing academic ambition with personal development inspired Reach British School to become one of Abu Dhabi’s first fully phone-free schools. Students place their phones in a secure Yondr pouch at the start of the day, retrieving them only after classes. This initiative aims to minimize distractions, enhance wellbeing, and foster face-to-face interactions.
School surveys indicated students checked their phones up to 20 times daily, with some receiving over 100 notifications during lessons. By eliminating this constant distraction, Reach British School joins numerous schools worldwide that report improved behavior, engagement, and focus.
For students, the change has been beneficial. “Our classrooms are calmer, and we communicate more,” said Mariam, a Student Leader. “It’s made school a better place for learning and friendships.”
As part of the International Schools Partnership (ISP), Reach British School continues to couple academic achievement with innovative methods focusing on student growth and wellbeing.
