On August 20, the world bid farewell to Judge Frank Caprio, celebrated for his compassion and famously known as the “nicest judge in the world.” Caprio passed away at 88 after bravely battling pancreatic cancer.
The Rhode Island judge gained international fame through his reality show ‘Caught in Providence,’ which showcased real cases and real people in the Providence Municipal Court.
Many residents of the UAE had the opportunity to meet Caprio during his visits to the country in 2022 and 2023, just before his cancer diagnosis.

Caprio shared a video on Instagram from his Dubai visit, describing it as ‘a warm welcome’ as fans eagerly greeted him. Visitors at Dubai Mall were thrilled to see him, referring to him as an inspiration.
The video captures him warmly shaking hands with fans who admired his empathy for people. “You came from Heaven. We all love you, all around the world,” remarked Algerian expat Maha Bachiri, who shared her encounter with the judge online.
He was also surprised to learn that a couple in Dubai named their son after him.
Caprio served as a keynote speaker at the opening of the 12th International Government Communication Forum (IGCF 2023).
