Amidst the extensive destruction in Palestine and the looming threat from Israel to seize Gaza City, stories of hope emerge, highlighting Palestinian resilience.

Renad Atallah, an 11-year-old Palestinian, is a content creator who uses her influence to spotlight the dire situation of starving children in Gaza. Aspiring to open a restaurant in the future, she shares cooking videos, showcasing her passion for creativity even during challenging times.

Organizations like Amnesty and the World Health Organization have consistently reported Israel’s aid restrictions, with the UN recently declaring a famine in Gaza.

In such dire circumstances, the names of her dishes stand out: War chips, famine’s bread, famine’s Labneh.

Recently, she posted a single, powerful word on a black slide — Goodbye.

At just 11, Renad serves as an ambassador for Human Concern International Canada (HCIC). With families enduring long periods without adequate food, she took action.

Her efforts extended beyond her own needs, aiming to feed thousands and offer hope to those without essentials. In a poignant video, Renad unboxed not toys or clothes, but rice and oil, showcasing the harsh realities faced by Palestinian children.

She established a donation link with HCI and collaborated with other food creators to gather funds and aid. Last week, she highlighted the aid reaching Gaza after “4 months of deprivation and hunger”.

As her followers awaited news, Renad returned to Instagram with a photo and a poignant caption: “A genocide survivor.”

The photo, taken in the Netherlands, indicated that Renad had left Palestine to join her sister Nourhan Attallah, though their mother and brothers remain in Gaza, according to Nourhan’s social media.

Renad’s post was met with an outpouring of love and relief from followers, celebrating her safety and lamenting the circumstances forcing children to leave their homeland.

Among the comments was a message from the family of Ahmed, an 8-year-old farmer in Gaza. Read the Khaleej Times report on how Ahmed rescues animals and documents Gaza’s devastation.

The comment, from an account managed by his father and sister, expressed: “Tears of pure joy are streaming down my face. I’m overjoyed that you made it through, and as you always say, children deserve nothing more than to just be children”.
