Reporter Mistake Causes Embarrassment at Match

Because Friedl exchanged his jersey with Frankfurt’s goalkeeper Michael Zetterer after the game, the reporter mistakenly thought he was one of the players from the winning team and began interviewing him on that basis. He interrupted her with a smile, saying, “I am a Werder Bremen player.” The situation caused significant embarrassment for the reporter, who quickly apologized, telling the German news agency: “It was an unintended and embarrassing mistake for me, and I hope Marco remembers it with a smile later.” Friedl recounted the incident, saying: “I did not expect something like this to happen. I spoke with her 90 minutes before the match on the team bus, then I was surprised that she didn’t recognize me after the match.” Despite Kleinfield’s attempt to rectify the situation and continue the conversation, the mistake remained the focus of discussion and sparked widespread interaction on social media.
