The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai announced on Tuesday that nearly 170 vehicles were seized and over 1,000 violations were documented during recent inspections of household gas distribution activities.
“Household gas distribution is a vital operation affecting environmental, public health, and safety standards. It demands stringent regulation to ensure compliance with licensing requirements and to identify counterfeit or untraceable gas cylinders, thus preventing significant risks,” stated Saeed Al Ramsi, Director of Licensing Activities Monitoring at RTA.
RTA and associated authorities carried out 4,322 field inspections targeting household gas operations, resulting in 1,098 violations recorded from 2023 to mid-2025.

Al Ramsi highlighted that major violations included possessing counterfeit or unverified gas cylinders and unauthorized transport and rental activities without proper permits. Around 170 vehicles were impounded due to non-compliance.

Al Ramsi urged all entities involved in gas distribution to strictly follow laws and regulations and ensure only licensed vehicles are used.
He added that authorities will persist in conducting “rigorous inspection campaigns and will take decisive legal action against offenders to ensure public safety.”
Minibus Confiscation
On Monday, Dubai Police announced the seizure of a minibus in Al Quoz Industrial Area. The vehicle had been altered to carry numerous gas cylinders and was caught during a traffic patrol inspection.
Officers discovered the vehicle’s seats were removed to accommodate the cylinders, posing a “serious risk” to drivers and road users.
“A collision, leak, or improper storage could cause catastrophic fires or explosions,” warned Brigadier Jumaa Bin Suwaidan, Acting Director of the General Department of Traffic. He emphasized, “Transporting hazardous materials without approval is a criminal offense with severe repercussions.”
