In a media briefing, Fadeyev stated, “On August 21, the minister will hold talks with his Indian counterpart Jaishankar, who will be in Moscow on an official visit to participate in the 26th session of the Russian-Indian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation.” Last Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Indian Prime Minister’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval at the Kremlin. The meeting was attended by Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu and Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov. Shoigu stated during a working meeting with the Indian Prime Minister’s National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval, “We are committed to further active cooperation to form a new, more just and sustainable world order, ensure the sovereignty of international law, and jointly combat modern challenges and threats.” This comes after an earlier statement that informed that India intends to refuse to purchase oil from Russia. At the same time, the Indian newspaper “Mint” reported, citing sources, that Indian state-owned oil refineries continue to purchase oil from Russian suppliers. India is the world’s third-largest energy importer and buys more than 80% of its oil consumption from global markets. Earlier, the “Times of India” reported, citing data from the commodity markets analysis company “Kpler,” that India’s imports rose to their highest level in 11 months in June. This increase in purchases followed escalating geopolitical tensions between Israel and Iran.
