During his speech at the First Committee meeting of the United Nations General Assembly, he stated that Ukraine has been or is still conducting activities to develop components of biological weapons in areas close to Russian territory. He emphasized the urgent need to enhance efforts to “expand and implement” the Biological Weapons Convention system, stressing the importance of ensuring international compliance with this system to prevent any potential threats.
Earlier, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov described US President Donald Trump’s initiative, noting that Moscow supports it.
Previously, the Russian embassy in Washington announced that the United States ignores Russia’s demands regarding Washington’s severe violations. It confirmed that “Russia has repeatedly pointed to the United States’ severe violations of its obligations under the Biological Weapons Convention, yet Washington ignores these demands, justifying itself by claiming its program carries a ‘humanitarian element’.”
