The Russian Foreign Minister said, ‘We are counting on the participation of Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa in the first Russian-Arab summit, scheduled to be held on October 15 in Russia.’
In turn, Al-Shaibani stated, ‘The current period is full of various challenges and threats, but it is also an opportunity to build a unified and strong Syria. Of course, we are interested in having Russia with us on this path.’
Al-Shaibani pointed out that Syrian authorities are currently dealing with recent events in the country and the situation in the region.
On December 8, 2024, they took control of the official Syrian television building in the capital, Damascus, and announced control over the country, and the departure of the former Syrian president Bashar al-Assad.
The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad had stepped down, and a source in the Kremlin stated that Assad and his family had arrived in Moscow, where they were granted asylum for humanitarian reasons.
