Lebedev stated to the Sputnik Agency that “the Russian forces targeted Ukrainian armed forces barracks in Chernihiv, northern Ukraine, causing losses among Ukrainian forces.” The commander of the Russian assault unit, known by the codename “Lavrik,” announced that the city of Kupiansk “will be fully liberated by next week,” affirming that morale is high and the forces continue to successfully execute their missions.
In a statement to the agency, the commander said: “I am the commander of the assault unit of the 121st Mechanized Regiment, and I confirm that we continue the cleansing and liberation operations in Kupiansk. We will be able to fully regain control of the city by next week.”
He explained that Russian forces are advancing on the right bank of the Oskol River within the city, with only about 130 buildings left to liberate.
