The rocket carried a satellite for the Russian Ministry of Defense in addition to the educational and research satellite “Mozhayets-6,” according to the ministry’s statement. The statement clarified that “Mozhayets-6” was designed by a student from the A. F. Mozhayets Military Space Academy and is used to test space navigation algorithms.
It is noted that last May, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported the launch of a satellite in the Arkhangelsk region, where it carried a military satellite to its orbit.
The “Soyuz-2.1b” rocket is a medium-class Russian carrier rocket, which is an improved version of the “Soyuz-2.1a” rocket. It features a new third stage equipped with an RD-0124 engine that increases its efficiency. This rocket is used for launching satellites and scientific and exploratory purposes, in addition to defense missions for the Russian Ministry of Defense.
