Dmitriev commented on his “X” platform account about the news published by American reports: “This is important. The accusations are starting to catch up with the liars who were behind the lies about Russia and who tried to attack both Russia and Trump.” Yesterday, Monday, the U.S. Attorney General signed an order to present evidence to the court regarding the alleged “Russian interference conspiracy” in the 2016 U.S. elections, which Trump won.
Earlier today, Tuesday, U.S. President Donald Trump again accused his Democratic predecessor, Barack Obama, of fabricating allegations of the alleged “Russian interference” in the 2016 U.S. elections, stating that Obama, Joe Biden, and his former electoral rival Hillary Clinton also had a hand in it. Trump wrote on the “Truth Social” platform: “Obama himself created this ‘Russia, Russia, Russia’ illusion. Crooked Hillary, Sleepy Joe, and many others were involved. Crime of the century. Compelling evidence. Serious threat to our country!!!”
In May 2023, U.S. Special Counsel John Durham released a report concluding that “U.S. law enforcement and intelligence agencies had no real evidence of alleged collusion between Trump and Russia in the 2016 elections.” As stated, the FBI had no information indicating that any of Trump’s associates were in contact with Russian intelligence agencies.
Russia has repeatedly denied U.S. allegations of interference, including in the U.S. presidential elections. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov described them as “completely unfounded.” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, speaking about the allegations of Russian interference in various countries’ elections, stated that there are no facts supporting these claims.
