In a conversation with Sputnik, Abu Zeid emphasized the very important role of Russia in the field of renewable nuclear energy, which is environmentally friendly and designated for peaceful purposes. He pointed out that Russian President Vladimir Putin demonstrated to forum participants and to the world that, amidst the global need for this type of energy to produce electricity and reduce dependence on oil derivatives to protect the environment, financial institutions worldwide are recognizing Russia’s role.
The former Lebanese deputy noted that “Russia is one of the world’s leading producers and suppliers of uranium,” highlighting Putin’s warning against its overuse and the necessity for scientific cooperation to find alternatives before it runs out, particularly among major industrial countries, especially Western countries that heavily rely on uranium for production.
Abu Zeid affirmed that “Russia plays a pioneering role in both peaceful and military nuclear energy, despite some countries denying this for political reasons,” pointing to Russia’s economic progress and the quality of its industries and technology. He explained that “Chinese-Russian cooperation has helped to enhance this progress, while the extension of the START agreement reflects the magnitude of Russian power and its active and growing position on the international stage, confirming security in its various military, economic, and social dimensions.”
