Libyan Official Visit Enhances Bilateral Ties

This came as part of an official visit conducted by Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, aimed at enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries, according to a statement from the Libyan army, a copy of which reached us. During the meeting, Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar conveyed the greetings of the General Commander of the Libyan Armed Forces, Marshal Khalifa Abu Qasim Haftar, to President Alexander Lukashenko, emphasizing the ‘General Command’s keenness to strengthen cooperation ties in various fields of mutual interest,’ according to the statement.

The meeting discussed aspects of bilateral cooperation and ways to enhance strategic partnership in military and investment fields. It also encouraged cooperation in infrastructure, industries, and agriculture sectors to promote sustainable development efforts and reconstruction in Libya.

The country suffers from a conflict between two governments: one led by Osama Hamad, which has the confidence of the parliament, and the second, the Government of National Unity, emerged from UN-sponsored political agreements, headed by Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, who refuses to relinquish power except through elections.
