Polyansky said: “We are disappointed because we expected to deal with serious partners,” considering the re-imposition of sanctions on Iran a “provocative decision.” Polyansky affirmed that Russia does not recognize the legal basis for initiating the procedure, noting that Russia has not yet requested a vote in the UN Security Council to extend the nuclear deal with Iran.

Polyansky added: “We are contemplating this matter. When the decision is ready for a final vote, a vote can be requested at any time, and this is what we are currently considering with our partners.”

A statement published on the Iranian Foreign Minister’s Telegram channel stated: “The foreign ministers of the three countries and the EU’s foreign policy chief informed our Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in a phone call an hour ago of their intention to officially notify the UN Security Council of the launch of the re-imposition mechanism within the provisions of the nuclear agreement.”

In the same context, the European ministers confirmed their readiness to work over the next 30 days to find a diplomatic solution to prevent the return of previous Security Council sanctions resolutions, according to the statement.

The Iranian Foreign Minister emphasized that “the Islamic Republic of Iran will respond appropriately to this illegal and unjustified action by the three European countries, to protect and secure its national rights and interests,” according to the statement.

In the same context, Panama’s mission, which presides over the UN Security Council this month, announced that it sent a letter to the UN Security Council requesting the activation of the re-imposition of sanctions against Iran.

Later, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that the United States remains ready for direct dialogue with Iran to resolve differences regarding its nuclear file, noting that it does not conflict with ongoing diplomatic efforts.

Rubio stated in a statement, “The United States remains committed to direct engagement with Iran to reach a peaceful and lasting solution to the Iranian nuclear issue. The re-imposition mechanism does not conflict with our sincere commitment to diplomacy; rather, it reinforces it. I urge Iranian leaders to take the necessary steps immediately to ensure their country does not possess a nuclear weapon and to follow the path of peace, thereby enhancing prosperity for the Iranian people.”
