The World Health Organization has confirmed that malnutrition rates in Gaza have reached dangerous levels, noting that one in every five children under five in Gaza City suffers from severe malnutrition that threatens their lives. In a related context, medical sources in the Gaza Strip announced on Monday the death of 11 citizens, including two children, in the past 24 hours due to famine and malnutrition, bringing the death toll to 300, including 117 children, according to Palestinian news agency WAFA.

The United Nations officially declared a famine in the Gaza Strip last Friday, blaming the “systematic obstruction” of aid by Israel during more than 22 months of war. Residents of the Gaza Strip are experiencing unprecedented levels of hunger, with UN organizations warning of the spread of famine and the rising number of deaths resulting from it, especially among children, patients, and people with disabilities.

From October 7, 2023, to August 21, 2025, the war on Gaza has resulted in the deaths of about 62,000 Palestinians, in addition to approximately 157,000 injured, according to data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.
