Sharjah Police have confiscated 100 vehicles and 40 motorcycles throughout the city due to unauthorized modifications.

These confiscations occurred through established checkpoints across the emirate and mobile patrols that targeted illegally modified vehicles, which disrupt residents and compromise road safety.

The authorities emphasized that unlicensed vehicle modifications, especially those causing noise, violate regulations, disturbing residents’ peace and endangering the safety of drivers and road users.

All motorists are urged to comply with the laws and contribute to public safety through responsible practices.

The campaign aimed to enhance public safety and safeguard lives and property. Officials highlighted that the initiative’s purpose is not only punitive but also educational, aiming to correct behaviors harmful to the community.

Drivers causing noise disturbances are subject to severe penalties in the UAE. Under Federal Traffic Law, using horns or music systems disruptively incurs a Dh400 fine and four black points. If the noise is from a modified or loud vehicle, the fine increases to Dh2,000 with 12 black points.

Additionally, vehicles modified without authorization can be impounded, with owners required to pay a Dh10,000 release fee. If unpaid after three months, the vehicle will be auctioned.

The Ministry of Interior reported 504 fines in Sharjah last year for noise disturbances, 117 in Ajman, and 8 in Fujairah.

In February, law enforcement in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain disclosed they seized 106 vehicles in January for significant modifications causing noise disturbances in Al Ain City.
