The Jordanian newspapers published today, “Al-Dustour,” “Al-Rai,” and “Al-Ghad,” focused in their news and analytical coverage on the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit hosted by Egypt. This summit witnessed the signing of a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, alongside discussions on the implementation measures for the first phase of the agreement. There is significant regional and international anticipation regarding the tangible results on the ground that could restore calm and cement the humanitarian truce in the region.
Meanwhile, the “Al-Sharq Al-Awsat” newspaper highlighted the welcome received by international countries and institutions for the release of Israeli hostages, as part of the first phase of the Gaza peace plan. The newspaper praised the role of U.S. President Donald Trump, who is arriving in the region on a highly significant trip. It noted that French President Emmanuel Macron stated that peace could become possible for Israel, Gaza, and the entire region with the release of Israeli hostages under the peace plan sponsored by U.S. President Donald Trump. Macron added on “X” that France will participate in all stages of Trump’s plan alongside Arab partners.
Kuwaiti newspapers also highlighted Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s speech during the summit, where he described the peace agreement and the summit as a “historic turning point.” The newspapers quoted the president saying, “The Palestinian people have the right to self-determination and to enjoy freedom,” expressing his hope that this agreement will end a painful chapter in human history.
Additionally, the Kuwaiti newspapers gave significant attention to the announcement by the U.S. President that the war in Gaza has ended, and aid has begun to flow in, achieving peace in the Middle East. Egypt hosted a peace summit in Sharm El-Sheikh yesterday, led by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and his American counterpart Donald Trump, with the participation of leaders and delegations from around 20 countries. It was described as a historic moment within the framework of solidifying the peace process in the Middle East by ending the war in Gaza, rebuilding the region, and reaching a political settlement to the Palestinian issue.
Trump announced yesterday at a press conference during the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit on Gaza, with the presence of several regional and international leaders, that a document was signed to end the war between “Hamas” and Israel, which he described as “historic,” as part of efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East.
