Shilpa Shetty Faces Fraud Allegations in Rs60 Crore Case

Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty was interrogated by the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) regarding an alleged fraud case involving Rs60 crore.

The EOW reported that the actor underwent questioning for nearly four and a half hours. However, the link between her and her husband Raj Kundra to the case remains vague. So far, five individuals, including Raj, have provided statements.

In September, the EOW issued a Look Out Circular for Shilpa Shetty and her husband over the cheating accusations.

In August, allegations of cheating a businessman of over Rs60 crore were brought against Shilpa Shetty, Raj Kundra, and another person.

Businessman Deepak Kothari, director of Lotus Capital Financial Services Ltd, filed the complaint, stating the incidents occurred from 2015 to 2023. Kothari accused the couple of misusing funds intended for business expansion for personal expenses.

According to Kothari, in 2015, Shetty and Kundra sought a Rs75 crore loan through a mediator for their company, Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, which dealt with lifestyle products and online shopping. They initially offered a 12% interest rate and later suggested the funds be considered an “investment” with promises of monthly returns and principal repayment. Kothari claimed to have transferred Rs 31.95 crore in April 2015 under a share subscription agreement, followed by Rs 28.53 crore in September 2015 under a supplementary agreement.

The total sum was deposited into Best Deal TV’s accounts. Kothari’s repeated attempts to recover the funds reportedly failed, leading him to accuse the couple of “dishonest use” of the money for personal gain.

Shilpa and Raj’s attorney, Prashant Patil, has refuted the claims, stating they will reveal the “truth” to the investigation agencies.
