A ship 15 nautical miles west of Yemen reported gunfire after spotting approximately 15 small boats at a distance of 1-2 cables, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency on Friday.
The vessel reported that the boats eventually left the area, and it remains on high alert.
The ship’s captain confirmed the crew’s safety and that they are proceeding to the next port.
