The Egyptian presidency stated: ‘During a call with Kenyan President William Ruto, President Sisi emphasized the connection between the situation in Sudan and Egyptian national security.’ The statement added: ‘Sisi stressed Egypt’s supportive stance on development efforts and projects in the Nile Basin countries, firmly rejecting any harm to its water interests and unilateral actions taken by Ethiopia.’

On October 26, the Sudanese Rapid Support Forces announced their full control over the city of El Fasher in the Darfur region, following intense battles with the Sudanese army. However, the head of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council confirmed that ‘the army’s withdrawal from the city was to avoid further destruction,’ but observers believe that ‘the army would not have withdrawn from such a strategic city without a definitive military defeat.’

Earlier, they also announced control over the strategic city of Bara in North Kordofan after battles with the Sudanese army forces. Nevertheless, Sudan Liberation Army Movement spokesperson, Sadig Ali Al Noor, denied to ‘Sputnik’ the accuracy of the forces’ claims about reclaiming full control over the city of Bara.

Arab, African, and international parties mediated to establish a ceasefire, but these mediations have not succeeded in achieving a permanent ceasefire.
