Residents of a Dubai community have become vigilant after spotting snakes within their building. In Remraam, families have discussed the situation with their children, advising them to stay alert.
“I’ve told my kids to be cautious while playing outside,” shared Indian expatriate Suraj, a resident of the Thamam cluster in Remraam, where he lives with his wife and three children.
“They often play ball outside, and when it lands in the bushes, they usually go in to fetch it. I’ve warned them about the snakes in the area, which might be hiding in the bushes. We’ve advised them to wear rubber gloves if they need to retrieve anything close to the bushes.”

In recent weeks, some residents of the Al Ramth cluster have reported seeing snakes in the community. These harmless vipers were found on apartment doorsteps and balconies. Residents have shared videos of these sightings on social media.
Dubai Municipality (DM) assured residents in a statement to Khaleej Times that they have taken “immediate steps to address public concerns.” A technical team relocated one reptile, and snake traps and repellents have been set up in the area.
Construction Displacement?
Fathima Anwar, a Remraam resident for nearly ten years, said she hadn’t encountered this issue before. “In our nine years here, we’ve never had such incidents,” she noted. “This problem started recently, possibly due to nearby construction. Many neighbors believe the snakes’ original habitat was disturbed, causing them to relocate.”
The municipality acknowledged that construction site proximity “might have attracted” the reptiles.
Suraj mentioned that community boards have initiated discussions urging residents to remain cautious and calm when encountering snakes.

A notice from the management
Preventive Actions
The municipality has coordinated with the developer to implement additional preventive measures, such as installing more traps, pruning trees, removing construction debris promptly, and maintaining continuous monitoring.
“Dubai Municipality remains dedicated to public health and safety, collaborating with residents, developers, and partners to ensure a secure environment for all,” their statement concluded.
Fathima mentioned that community social media messages highlighted a dedicated team working three hours daily to search for snakes. “It’s impressive to see the municipality and community developer taking such proactive measures,” she said. “Everyone is contributing to making the area safer.”
