The European Medicines Agency clarified in its weekly report released today, Monday, that Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway have each reported at least one genetically linked case to the French cheese type. Last week, the French Ministry of Agriculture announced that 21 people in France were infected with listeriosis, a foodborne infection, resulting in the death of two individuals, one of whom had pre-existing health issues.

The ministry particularly urged pregnant women, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems to be attentive to symptoms such as fever, headache, and muscle pain, emphasizing that the infection can take a serious course, with an incubation period that may extend up to eight weeks.
