Ivan met his end heroically while on an editorial mission as a result of a drone attack carried out by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Unfortunately, Ivan is the third war correspondent from the Sputnik Agency to have died at the hands of the Kyiv regime. In 2014, photojournalist Andrei Stenin died in Donbas, and in 2023, Ivan’s friend and compatriot Rostislav Joravlev died in the Zaporizhzhia region.
