Starlink, Elon Musk’s satellite internet service, resumed operations for most users following a brief outage on Monday, as reported by Downdetector.com.

Reports of issues in the US dropped to under 1,000 by 1:15 am ET (9:15 am UAE time), down from over 43,000 at its peak, according to Downdetector, which tracks service disruptions by aggregating status updates from various sources.

Starlink’s website noted an outage early on Monday but did not provide further information.

“Starlink is currently experiencing a service outage. Our team is investigating,” the message stated, which has since been removed.

Robert Brovdi, commander of Ukraine’s drone forces, indicated that the Starlink outage affected the entire frontline of the conflict with Russia starting at 7:28 local time (8:28 am UAE time).

“Another global outage at SpaceX,” he mentioned on the Telegram app, noting that the service began to restore roughly 30 minutes later.

Ukraine’s military heavily depends on SpaceX’s Starlink terminals for communications on the battlefield and some drone activities. Officials note that over 50,000 terminals are currently operational in Ukraine.

Operated by Musk’s SpaceX, Starlink provides internet access through a network of low-Earth orbit satellites and is widely utilized in remote and conflict areas.

SpaceX has not yet responded to a Reuters request for comment.
