Sergey Bogachev, head of the Solar Astronomy Laboratory at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, told Sputnik that a solar flare had reached a strength of 5.2 X, making it the strongest since October 2024. Bogachev added, “The flare’s strength was determined at 5.2 X, and it is already declining,” explaining that the flare is the strongest since October 3, 2024.
The laboratory reported that the radiation flow of this event is three to five times greater than all flares this year, with its energy estimated to be between 10 and 20 times higher. Earlier, the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute predicted mild to moderate geomagnetic storms on Tuesday, which could develop into strong storms by Wednesday.
It added, “Space weather for November 11, 2025… Daily forecast: Geomagnetic conditions – G1 to G2 class magnetic storms are expected by the end of the day (Moscow time), potentially peaking tomorrow, November 12,” as reported by the laboratory’s channel on Telegram. The laboratory clarified that the risk of recurring strong solar flares, including those of X magnitude, remains.
