The ministry, in an official statement published on its account on the ‘X’ platform, expressed its ‘categorical rejection of the invasion of the occupied Palestinian territories’ and described the statements as ‘hostile and racist.’ These statements included calls for annexing the West Bank and preventing the establishment of a Palestinian state, alongside threats to the Palestinian National Authority. The ministry considered these actions as a clear challenge to the international will that supports the two-state solution.
The ministry warned that the absence of international accountability encourages the continuation of these policies aimed at entrenching the illegal occupation and imposing forced displacement policies. The statement noted that Smotrich’s statements will not undermine the rights of the Palestinian people or the justice of their cause, affirming that ‘the occupation is the root of the conflict and the source of tension and instability in the region.’
The ministry also warned against the continuation of illegal unilateral Israeli actions aimed at imposing new realities by force, which fuels cycles of violence and threatens the security and stability of the entire region. The ministry called on the ‘international community to bear its legal and ethical responsibilities and oblige Israel to stop its aggression on Gaza and its escalation in the West Bank, alongside the inflammatory statements of its officials.’
Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich threatened today, Wednesday, with ‘annihilation,’ saying that Israel ‘will annihilate’ the authority if it ‘dares to raise its head’ or harm Israel’s security, according to his expression. Smotrich confirmed during a press conference that imposing Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank aims to prevent the establishment of a ‘Palestinian terrorist state aimed at eliminating us,’ describing this step as ‘realistic’ to face what he called a ‘political attack’ on Israel, according to the Israeli newspaper ‘Yedioth Ahronoth.’ Smotrich also claimed that the American administration supports Israel’s stance against the establishment of a Palestinian state, affirming that Israel ‘will not allow the establishment of a Palestinian state under any circumstances,’ emphasizing Israel’s determination to face any challenges in this context.
