The decision stipulated that all forces allied with the army would be under the command of the armed forces’ leaders in various regions, according to the Sudan News Agency. It also referred several senior army leaders to retirement, including two with the rank of Major General and four with the rank of Brigadier General.

No statement has been issued so far from any of the movements allied with the army regarding their stance on the decision, which coincided with tensions between the army leadership and the movements of Jibril Ibrahim and Minni Arko Minnawi. These tensions were due to accusations regarding responsibility for setbacks in Kordofan and ministerial quotas, in addition to the decision to evacuate the capital, Khartoum, of all armed groups.

War broke out in Sudan on April 15, 2023, between the army led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the Rapid Support Forces led by Mohamed Hamdan (Hemeti) in various regions of Sudan. This conflict affected health services and the living conditions of Sudanese people, particularly exacerbating the crisis of displacement internally and externally.

Arab, African, and international parties have mediated to cease fire, but these efforts have not succeeded in achieving a permanent cessation of hostilities.
