Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav has been penalized 30% of his match fee due to comments made after the Asia Cup 2025 group match against Pakistan, where he referenced the military conflict between the nations in May 2025, according to tournament sources on Friday.
India has reportedly filed an appeal against the ICC’s decision, as PTI reported. Yadav declared “not guilty” during a Dubai hearing following the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s complaint to the International Cricket Council (ICC) about his remarks on September 14.
The PCB accused the Indian captain of making political statements during both the post-match presentation and press conference after the group stage match between the two teams.

Suryakumar had dedicated India’s victory over Pakistan at the Asia Cup to the “bravery” of India’s “armed forces” and expressed support for the families of the Pahalgam (terror) attack victims.
Reports indicate that Suryakumar Yadav has been advised to avoid political statements during official press conferences in the future.
India and Pakistan are scheduled to face off again on Sunday in the Asia Cup 2025 final in Dubai.
