This was stated in a statement published by the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on its official page on the “X” website today, Friday. In it, they said that Damascus welcomes the Canadian government’s decision, which reveals its awareness of its implications for vital sectors.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry confirmed that “this decision represents an important moment in the journey of strengthening Syrian-Canadian relations,” noting that it paves the way for a new phase of multiple partnerships.
It pointed out its readiness to work with everyone through positive communication, which contributes to supporting economic recovery and reconstruction efforts in Syria and serves the interest of regional and international security and stability.
It is noteworthy that the sanctions imposed on Syria since 2011 have trapped the country’s economy until Western countries began lifting sanctions on Damascus following the departure of the Assad government and Ahmed Al-Sharaa’s assumption of the presidency of Syria for the transitional phase, and the movement of world countries to restore economic and diplomatic relations with the country.
