The Coordination and Communication Office in the Ministry’s Media Department confirmed, in response to an inquiry from ‘Syrian TV,’ that what was published in this regard is ‘untrue.’ According to high-level Syrian sources, ‘both sides will sign a security agreement under the auspices of the United States, preceded by a speech by the Syrian President for the transitional phase, Ahmad Al-Shara, at the United Nations on September 24th.’
In the same context, the Director of the American Affairs Department in the Syrian Foreign Ministry, Qutaiba Idlbi, denied any meeting between Al-Shara and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu next month.
On the other hand, last Tuesday, the Foreign Minister in the Syrian transitional government, Asaad Al-Shibani, met with an Israeli delegation in the French capital, Paris. The discussions focused on issues related to de-escalation, non-interference in Syrian internal affairs, monitoring the ceasefire in As-Suwayda, and reactivating the 1974 Agreement, all under U.S. mediation.
