The emergency room drama The Pitt was celebrated as the top TV drama of the year, while The Studio took home the best comedy award, as Hollywood honored television’s finest at the Emmy Awards on September 14.
The Pitt surprised many by winning over Severance, a suspenseful workplace drama that led the nominations at the Los Angeles event. Star Noah Wyle won his first Emmy for best drama actor for his role in the medical series.
Meanwhile, The Studio star and co-creator Seth Rogen also garnered his first Emmy for best comedy actor.
“I’m genuinely embarrassed by how delighted I am,” Rogen admitted while holding the comedy series award.
Hacks stars Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder received awards for comedy actress and supporting actress for their roles in a story about a comedian at odds with her late-night show network.
This marked Smart’s fourth Emmy for her Hacks role and the first for Einbinder, despite three previous nominations. Einbinder humorously remarked that she had convinced herself “it was cooler to lose.”
Around 26,000 members, including performers, directors, and producers, of the Television Academy selected the winners.
