Trump told reporters at the White House in response to a question about whether a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Zelensky was a condition for the U.S.-Russia summit not being held: “No, it should not be.” Russian President’s aide, Yuri Ushakov, confirmed on Thursday that work has already begun on holding a summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Donald Trump. Ushakov told reporters: “Based on the American side’s proposal, it has been preliminarily agreed to hold a high-level bilateral meeting in the coming days, meaning a meeting between President Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.” Ushakov stated that next week has been tentatively set as the date for the meeting between the Russian and American presidents, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. Ushakov responded to journalists’ requests to comment on what a Western newspaper published, stating that Trump expects to meet with Putin next week.
