Last week, Trump confirmed with Chinese President Xi Jinping that Washington seeks to develop trade cooperation with Beijing and will continue bilateral consultations to resolve the TikTok issue. For his part, Xi Jinping emphasized that China’s position on the matter is clear, noting that Beijing respects the wishes of companies and is pleased that negotiations are proceeding according to market rules.
TikTok is a Chinese application owned by ByteDance, specializing in creating and viewing short videos. It was launched in 2018 and has since become a leader in the short video application sector within China, while continuing to gain widespread popularity globally.
In a statement, ByteDance thanked the leaders of both countries for their efforts to ensure the application’s continued operation in the United States, affirming its commitment to work in accordance with applicable laws.
