In an interview with Fox News, Trump commented on plans to end the conflict in Ukraine, saying: “I called President Putin. We are trying to arrange a meeting with President Zelensky.” Trump added that his participation in a trilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky depends on the success of their potential bilateral meeting.
The American president further stated that he would not attend the first potential meeting between Putin and Zelensky to ensure it remains a bilateral discussion. Trump revealed today, Tuesday, that the European leaders who attended the talks at the White House expressed their understanding of the necessity for Ukraine to make territorial concessions to end the conflict.
In response to a question about the stance of the participants (the European leaders) in the meeting regarding Kyiv’s need to make territorial concessions, Trump said, “They understood.” Ushakov added, “The American president informed President Putin about the negotiations with Zelensky and European leaders,” noting that “the conversation lasted around 40 minutes.”
