Trump Hosts Peace Signing with Armenia and Azerbaijan

Trump wrote on the “Truth Social” platform on Thursday: “Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will join me at the White House for an official peace signing ceremony.” He added that Washington will sign bilateral agreements “with both countries to enhance mutual economic opportunities,” which would open new horizons in the South Caucasus region.

On Wednesday, the Armenian Cabinet announced a meeting in Washington between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev. The American newspaper “The Washington Post” reported that Trump will welcome Pashinyan and Aliyev to the White House next Friday, where the parties may announce a peace agreement.

The newspaper quoted American officials saying that this meeting is “the latest example of the president’s efforts to end international conflicts and take credit for it.” Last month, Aliyev said at the Third Global Media Forum 2025, hosted by the city of Shusha in Azerbaijan, that “it is possible to sign a peace treaty (with Armenia) as soon as two issues are resolved: amending the Armenian Constitution and resolving the Minsk Group of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (regarding the Karabakh region)… I believe we are very close to signing a peace treaty.”
