Trump pointed to Erdogan’s strong relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Moscow’s respect for him.
Washington – Sputnik. Trump told reporters in response to a question about whether the Turkish president could help resolve the crisis in Ukraine: “Erdogan can do that.”
Yesterday, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed confidence that his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin would be able to resolve the Ukrainian crisis, stating that it would be a significant achievement for him on the international stage.
Trump said in a statement to reporters in Washington: “I really think President Putin will look great if he succeeds in settling this conflict, and I think he will do it.”
Earlier this month, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed confidence that the conflict in Ukraine could have been avoided if the current U.S. President Donald Trump were in power at the time.
Putin said during a speech at a meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club: “Could it have been different? Let me return to what President Trump said: he said that if he had been in power, it could have been avoided. And I agree with that.”
