Trump thanked the Arab and Islamic countries for their support of the Gaza agreement, which united to pressure the Palestinian Hamas movement to release the hostages. He noted that it was not easy to deal with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which made him special, and pointed out that Netanyahu has courage and patriotism, and his partnership contributed to reaching this day. He mentioned that future generations will remember this moment as the beginning of everything changing for the better. He noted that after two very difficult years of darkness and captivity, we have 20 brave hostages returning to their families. He emphasized that what happened on October 7, 2023, should not be repeated again.
Trump pledged to help Gaza restore stability, safety, dignity, and economic development, and he intends to be a partner in the efforts to rebuild Gaza. In his speech, the American president noted that he ended 8 wars within 8 months, which means that he hates war. He continued, explaining that the contribution of the US presidential envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, in the talks with Moscow deserves praise, and without him, the world might have awaited a third world war.
Trump confirmed in his speech at the Knesset that nuclear terrorism in Iran has been eliminated, and the joint operation with Israel against Iran was remarkable. He considered that the forces of chaos in the Middle East have been completely defeated. He added that it would be wonderful if we could reach a peace agreement with Iran, and he believes Tehran desires peace. He added that Washington does not want Iran to pose a threat to regional peace.
President Donald Trump continued in his speech at the Knesset: “I will soon meet with the great leaders who made this moment possible,” referring to the peace summit in the Egyptian city of Sharm El Sheikh, marking the end of the war in Gaza. Israel announced, on Monday morning, as part of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza according to the plan of US President Donald Trump. A joint statement from the Israeli army and the General Security Service (Shabak) stated that “Israeli army forces and the General Security Service (Shabak) in the Gaza Strip received seven Israeli hostages, and they are now on their way to Israeli territory, where they will undergo an initial medical assessment.” The Israeli army spokesperson urged the public to act responsibly and sensitively, respect the returning hostages’ privacy, and rely only on official information. The statement concluded that the Israeli army is ready to receive additional hostages expected to be transferred to the Red Cross later.
Earlier, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip, announced on Monday, as part of the first phase of Trump’s plan to stop the war on the sector, and Hamas confirmed in a statement its commitment to the agreement and the role of mediators in obligating Israel to fulfill all its commitments. The movement described the liberation of prisoners from Israeli prisons, including those with life sentences and high sentences, as “the fruit of the steadfastness of the people of Gaza and the heroism of its sons in resistance, embodying the will to liberate in front of the oppression of the new Nazis,” as they put it. They pointed to the failure of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his army over two years to free their soldiers by force, forcing them to accept the resistance’s conditions through a swap deal. The movement affirmed its keenness on the safety of the prisoners despite Israel’s attempts to target them, noting the ongoing violations faced by Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons.
