NBC News reported, citing sources, that “Trump contacted Zelensky and European leaders regarding potential US-backed security guarantees for Ukraine, similar to NATO. European and American security guarantees were discussed, and (Trump) did not discuss the presence of American troops on the ground.” Earlier yesterday, Russian President Vladimir Putin and American President Donald Trump held talks in Alaska. The presidents met at the Elmendorf-Richardson military base, where the talks, conducted in a ‘3-on-3′ format, lasted two hours and 45 minutes. According to Western media, this meeting became the longest ever, and both Putin and Trump expressed their countries’ determination to achieve results and pointed to a significant number of areas for joint work. The leaders announced their readiness to work on ending the conflict in Ukraine. According to Trump, “There is no agreement on key settlement points, but there is a good chance of reaching an agreement.” After the talks, the Russian president visited the cemetery where Soviet pilots, who were killed in 1943 while transporting planes via the air route between Alaska and Siberia, are buried.
