Trump wrote in a post on his Truth Social account: “I will speak to European leaders soon. They are great people and want to reach an agreement.” The Kremlin and the White House had earlier announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump would meet in Alaska. Despite the numerous issues expected to be discussed between the presidents, with the Ukrainian file at the forefront, it is expected that potential understandings could be reached. This is especially likely given the intersecting interests of the two countries in the region and the impact of the Ukrainian crisis on the situation in the Middle East, as well as the Palestinian issue, which is a focal point of tensions in the region. Experts anticipate that if an understanding is reached between Putin and Trump in the near term, it may not be resolved from the first meeting on August 15.
He added: “Any attempt to seize our properties will lead to a harsh response against those who confiscated them. We will take countermeasures, with full commitment to the principle of reciprocity in international relations.”
