Trump told reporters at the White House on Wednesday, “Petro will face big problems if he doesn’t get it. Colombia produces a lot of drugs. They have cocaine factories that make cocaine and sell it directly to the United States. So he has to act wisely, or he’ll be next… and I hope he hears me.”
In an interview with Politico earlier this week, Trump did not rule out the possibility of carrying out strikes against suspects in drug trafficking networks in both Colombia and Mexico.
In recent months, the United States has launched direct strikes targeting boats suspected of drug smuggling in the Caribbean, particularly accusing Venezuela of sending drugs to America.
Pentagon spokeswoman Kingsley Wilson said the United States conducted 21 direct strikes against suspected smuggling boats in the Western Hemisphere, resulting in the death of 82 people.
