Bassem explained in an intervention on “Sputnik” radio that “Palestinians will be driven out of Gaza, preventing their return later,” noting that “the ceasefire in Gaza is being sponsored by US President Donald Trump, who hopes to transform Gaza into a Trumpian Riviera and rebuild it to align with the Western lifestyle, opening up investment opportunities for American companies and extracting gas on Gaza’s shores.”
She added that “Trump seeks to achieve a quick accomplishment before the midterm elections to present it to Americans as an entry to new economic prosperity.”
On the diplomatic side, Bassem confirmed that “Israeli operations and raids have not stopped since the ceasefire was announced; rather, they have become more organized and with deeper targets, resembling a collusion against Gaza,” considering that “the narrative of the agreement primarily aims to ease pressure on the American government amid increasing pro-Palestine demonstrations.”
She emphasized that “the UN decision regarding Palestine and the two-state solution is non-binding and lacks mechanisms for implementation,” clarifying that “Palestinian resistance operations have not stopped,” and that “what happens on the ground will be determined by the Palestinians’ own reaction.”
