Trump’s Role in Middle East Peace and Gaza Rebuild

Trump arrived in Egypt’s Sharm el-Sheikh on Monday, October 13, to co-chair a crucial Middle East peace summit.

Earlier, Trump addressed Israel’s Knesset, declaring, “This marks not just the end of a conflict… This is the historic dawn of a new Middle East.”

Trump’s proposal for the devastated Gaza includes establishing a new governing body led by him. Under this plan, as Israel partially withdraws from Gaza, a multinational force coordinated by a US-led command center in Israel will take over.

However, the reconstruction of the Strip poses a significant question. Israel’s two-year offensive has left the land unrecognizable, necessitating the resurrection of entire cities during peace time.

To address this, the Chairman of the UAE’s Al Habtoor Group has proposed a reconstruction plan. As Trump arrived in Egypt, billionaire Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor published an open letter to the President, detailing how Al Habtoor and the UAE can contribute to this “historic dawn.”

‘Real, visible, and measurable’

Founded in 1970 in the UAE, Al Habtoor Group now operates globally, including in the US and UK.

In his letter, the chairman praised Trump for brokering the peace agreement, showing belief in peace as a strategic choice, and giving Gaza a chance to rise from the ashes. He expressed his appreciation for Trump and positioned the UAE as the prime choice for rebuilding the Strip.

“Gaza needs a life project today, not just slogans, and a will to act, not mere speeches. We believe building is the noblest form of peace,” he stated.

Addressing the US President, Al Habtoor remarked, “We understand you’re considering candidates to lead the Transitional Gaza Authority to oversee Gaza’s reconstruction once the peace agreement is signed and its structure defined.”

“Let me assert with confidence that UAE business houses are best suited for this critical responsibility. Our success is not theoretical; it is real, visible, and measurable.”

He highlighted Al Habtoor Group’s accomplishments within the UAE, noting their efficiency in completing complex projects. Examples include the Waldorf Astoria in Palm Jumeirah and the V Hotel, both owned and operated by the group, which also represents car brands like Mitsubishi, Bentley, and Bugatti.

Reconstruction plan

Al Habtoor believes Gaza’s reconstruction can occur swiftly with Arab and international cooperation. He proposes a thorough plan for permanent reconstruction, not just temporary aid.

“I directed the Al Habtoor Group’s Engineering Department to draft a detailed engineering plan and our Research Centre to create a practical roadmap for Gaza’s revival,” he explained, outlining the plan’s three phases.

Building houses

Phase one establishes an engineering framework, beginning with debris removal and clearing destroyed areas to make way for new construction. During this period, temporary housing will be provided for Gaza residents. The phase also includes providing electricity, water, sanitation, and temporary medical services. This will be followed by the construction of roads and buildings. According to the plan, housing units will be built as follows:

Stage One (0-15 months): 50,000 housing units in 5,000 buildings.

Stage Two (overlapping 6 months): An additional 50,000 units.

Stage Three: Another 50,000 units.

This plan aims to deliver 150,000 housing units in Gaza within three years.

Jobs for Gazans

Phase two focuses on economic strategies, involving “a plan to establish industrial zones and commercial centers,” aimed at creating “hundreds of thousands of jobs.”

‘Free from political manipulation’

The final phase is a management framework ensuring Gaza’s residents access resources without “political manipulation or corruption, so that reconstruction benefits the people, not competing agendas.”

Al Habtoor concludes his letter with a passionate declaration of readiness.

“We, at Al Habtoor Group, are ready,” he affirmed. “With our unmatched record of transformation, efficiency, and determination, we can rebuild Gaza with speed, dignity, and vision. A rebuilt Gaza can become a model of stability and prosperity for future generations.”

He added that an updated version of the plans will be shared soon as it undergoes revision by his team.
