Tunisia’s Recognition as a Unique Tourist Destination

This recognition is an Arab acknowledgment of Tunisia’s unique tourist attractions, which include cultural and archaeological aspects, in addition to its uniqueness in the fields of arts, traditional crafts, urban and architectural heritage, according to the Tunisian platform, Al-Manbar. This achievement comes after Tunisia joined UNESCO’s ‘Creative Cities Network’ for 2026, enhancing its status as a global creative destination.

Tunisia actively participated in the 28th session held on December 8th and 9th in Baghdad, Iraq, which was inaugurated by Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani, with the attendance of tourism ministers from several Arab countries.

Taqiyah added: “It is clear today that the future of the Arab region will only be forged through close cooperation between our countries and our ability to build an integrated regional system that surpasses scattered initiatives towards joint practical projects.” In the context of sector development, the minister emphasized “Tunisia’s efforts in recent years to enhance the tourism infrastructure through digitization and intensified promotion via modern communication means such as artificial intelligence, influencers, and content creators.”

Taqiyah also reiterated “Tunisia’s steadfast stance in supporting the Palestinian people,” stressing “its commitment to strengthening the resilience of the Palestinian tourism sector, protecting its heritage, and enhancing its presence as an integral part of the shared Arab cultural identity.”

This accolade is expected to boost Tunisia’s tourist appeal, especially with the approach of 2027, amid expectations of increased flow of Arab and international tourists to the capital.
