This came during a press statement reported by “Anadolu” where the Turkish minister revealed practical steps to simplify the crossing process for trucks at the Syrian-Turkish border, and the cancellation of the unloading and reloading requirement that was previously in place.

Oglu explained that his country “will allow in the first phase, Syrian trucks that do not meet specifications to enter Turkish territories in provinces adjacent to the border, while the passage of trucks meeting specifications will be limited to other countries. Turkish trucks will also be allowed to cross into Syria and from there to Jordan.”

The Turkish minister noted “the existence of an agreement with the Syrian side to submit the necessary applications to obtain permits,” expressing hope that “Syria will start implementing this mechanism soon.”

In the context of regional cooperation, Oglu confirmed that “Turkey has implemented many projects, and negotiations are ongoing with the Syrian side, especially concerning the rehabilitation of the completely destroyed Gaziantep-Aleppo railway line, which costs $120 million, and consultations are underway with international financial institutions to secure the amount.”

Regarding the Hijaz railway line, the Turkish minister confirmed that “the damages are less, and the restoration work will be carried out with full Turkish funding.”

He concluded his statement by saying, “Syria needs everything from infrastructure to superstructure, and the main challenge is to secure the necessary funding for these projects.”
