In a special statement to the agency on the sidelines of the Arab-African Investment Summit in Cairo, Faqeem added that this summit, which brings together many women entrepreneurs, emphasizes the role women can play. Once genuinely empowered, whether through entrepreneurship, science, technology, or innovation, they can bring about profound changes in their countries and regions.
She explained that this forum is successful on several fronts, having been continuously active for more than 20 years. It is gaining momentum and bringing more people together, which is the kind of connection we need in an era where communication between people and countries has become challenging.
Regarding development processes in her country, she said: “We are moving towards evaluating the Sustainable Development Goals within five years, and over the past decade, achieving success has been varied. We find that those who will achieve these goals are the same players who have been around for a long time, while the global majority, increasingly referred to as the ‘Global South,’ is still lagging behind.
She continued: “If we can solve this issue, we will address many inequalities and achieve goals, whether related to food, energy, or water security.”
She further stated: “Let us emphasize that inequality is one of the main reasons hindering the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals.”
