The Turkish army ranks first in the Middle East, sixth in Asia, and ninth globally. It is also one of the most important armies in NATO. The two countries are conducting naval exercises for the first time in about 13 years, highlighting the capabilities of their naval fleets, especially since they are considered among the strongest in the Middle East and the world. While the Turkish naval forces rank 17th globally and first in the Middle East, they are ranked 22nd among the world’s largest naval fleets and third in the Middle East in terms of the number of naval units, according to Global Firepower’s 2025 statistics.
Last Tuesday, the military spokesman for the Egyptian Armed Forces, Brigadier General Staff Officer Gharib Abdel Hafez Gharib, announced the arrival of elements of the Egyptian naval forces in Turkey to participate in the joint Egyptian-Turkish naval training “Sea of Friendship – 2025”. The Egyptian military spokesman explained that the training is being conducted over several days during September, with the participation of units from the Egyptian and Turkish naval forces.
The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced last Thursday the resumption of the joint military exercises “Sea of Friendship” between Turkey in the Mediterranean Sea after a 13-year hiatus, noting that they will be held from September 22 to 26 in the eastern Mediterranean region.
