Last month, a 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck the Balıkesir province in northwestern Turkey, specifically in the Sındırgı area, and was felt by residents of Istanbul and neighboring provinces about 200 kilometers from the epicenter.

The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) reported that it occurred at 19:53:47 local time and was detected in Sındırgı in the Balıkesir province, according to Turkish media.

The media confirmed that residents in Istanbul and other nearby areas felt the earthquake, causing concern among citizens. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced that all relevant institutions were mobilized from the first moment to address the aftermath of the earthquake, affirming his personal oversight of relief and assessment operations.
