Today, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to discuss strengthening bilateral relations between their countries.
The Riyadh meeting also covered key regional developments, with a special focus on the Middle East. The leaders evaluated recent events in the occupied Palestinian territories and ongoing efforts to address humanitarian and security issues.
Both leaders stressed the importance of enhancing regional stability, security, and peace by establishing a clear path toward a just and lasting peace based on the two-state solution, benefiting all peoples and nations in the region.
A senior UAE official warned Israel on Wednesday that any annexation of the West Bank would be a red line for Abu Dhabi, potentially undermining the spirit of the Abraham Accords, which normalized relations between the countries.
“From the outset, we saw the Accords as a way to support the Palestinian people and their legitimate aspiration for an independent state,” stated Lana Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister for Political Affairs and UAE Foreign Affairs Envoy.
The Abraham Accords, facilitated by U.S. mediation during President Donald Trump’s term, led to the UAE, Bahrain, and Morocco normalizing diplomatic ties with Israel.
“We urge the Israeli government to halt these plans. Extremists should not dictate the region’s future. Peace requires courage, persistence, and a determination not to let violence shape our choices,” Nusseibeh added.
