The United Arab Emirates has shown its support for Afghanistan, offering heartfelt condolences for the victims of the tragic bus accident in Herat province, western Afghanistan, which led to numerous fatalities and injuries.

In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs extended the UAE’s deep condolences and sympathy to the victims’ families and the Afghan people, wishing a swift recovery for those injured.

The death toll from the crash involving a bus carrying Afghan migrants from Iran and two other vehicles in western Afghanistan has climbed to 78, according to provincial authorities on Wednesday.

Seventy-six lives were lost in the Guzara district of Herat province on Tuesday night when the passenger bus collided with a motorcycle and a fuel-carrying truck, igniting a massive fire, as reported by officials and witnesses.

Two of the three survivors later succumbed to their injuries, authorities confirmed on Wednesday.

“Two injured individuals from last night’s crash succumbed to severe injuries, increasing the death toll to 78,” stated the provincial information department, quoting military hospital representatives who treated the victims.

Among the deceased were 17 children, reported army spokesman Mujeebullah Ansar, while a provincial police source claimed the number was 19.
