The UAE authorities have captured and extradited a prominent suspect to China, accused of leading an organized criminal network, according to the Ministry of Interior’s statement on Thursday, August 14.
This individual, deemed “one of China’s most wanted,” was apprehended by Dubai Police following a red notice from Interpol.
The suspect is charged with serious offenses, including managing fraudulent gambling operations worth millions.

After the suspect’s arrest and extradition, Chinese officials commended the UAE Ministry of Interior for their prompt actions, emphasizing the significance of global collaboration in combating cross-border crime.
This operation is a testament to the pivotal legal agreements between the UAE and China established in May 2002, pertaining to extradition and legal assistance in criminal cases.
These agreements, effective from May 2004, were signed by Sheikh Abdullah Rashid Al Nu’aimi and Chinese Ambassador Zhang Zhijun.
The latest arrest and extradition underscore the UAE’s expanding success in international law enforcement collaborations.
On July 13, Dubai Police arrested and extradited three Belgian nationals linked to major cross-border organized crime activities.
The individuals — Matthias Akyazili, Georgi Faes, and Othman El Ballouti — are recognized as most-wanted by Interpol and Europol.
In June 2025, the UAE detained Vitaliy Pirlog, a Moldovan and ex-Interpol Commission member, wanted by France for corruption, fraud, and bribery.
In May 2025, an alleged senior member of an Irish criminal gang faced charges in Dublin for murder and organized crime after being extradited from the UAE.
Sean McGovern, 39, arrested in Dubai in October last year, was noted by Irish police as a key associate of cartel leader Daniel Kinahan.
McGovern, a longtime Dubai resident, marks the first Kinahan cartel member arrested in Dubai and the first extradited to Ireland from the UAE.
